June 2010 Diamondcard Update

Lot's of news to report. We just released our Incoming SMS Service. This will give Diamondcard users the ability to receive replies from SMS's they send to USA mobile phone users. This is pretty exciting stuff. Shortly we expect to enable Twinkle and Ekiga users the ability to receive incoming SMS's to their softphone. This will allow real time two-way communications in the chat window of Ekiga and Twinkle. More information on this in our Incoming SMS page.

Recently, I received a call from a friend in California. During our conversation he mentioned his phone bill last month was over 500. I asked him how much calling he does. He says he doesn't make many calls. Hmmm. I asked to see a copy of his phone bill. AT&T was providing his service and he's using their Centrex system which is the old way of doing a PBX system. I was surprised to see the large amount of taxes charged and the high per minute cost of calls to California. They charge a lot of money for these in state calls. High per minute charges + high taxes = bankrupt state? Something is just not right here. But I digress.

He was asking if I could provide the PBX service. Hmmm, did someone mention the word PBX? Like a light bulb about to blow, It must be time for the hosted PBS service! At the minimum, if no one else wants it, we're sure to have one customer.

That's the story on how we finally started working on our hosted PBX Service. We expect to release this service sometime in the next few weeks. We plan to have really good pricing too. It will be worth the wait. This time around we are doing things differently. We will be using open source software and donating our code back to the community.

We have a few call centers in Asia making a lot of calls. They have been asking for a predictive dialer system to become more efficient. Predictive what? They want us to predict who to call? Long story made short, we are going to release a predictive dialer system integrated with our Diamondcard service. This is going to be a hot item for sure.

There's no surer way to get us working on something than flashing the local currency in our faces. Well, any currency will do. Preferably not the USD, but that's another story and for another blog too.

And finally, we are hard at work on our new web site redesign. Hopefully, if you keep your fingers crossed, add lots of prayers, and bring the rest of the family into it too, we might be done with it sometime in our lifetimes. We have tried to do this multiple times before but never able to get a good design out of our overpriced slave labor. We have redesigned it twice before now and not release it because at the end of the day, I just didn't like it. This time, if its somewhat decent, and none of us are complaining too much, its going up on the site come hell or high water! I can't look at this current Diamondcard design any longer. If you can even call it a design at all. Every page looks like a different site and they all stink. Enough talk on this or I will need to take my meds.

Till next time.
